<p>Originally, castile soap was an olive oil based soap made in the Castile region of Spain. Today, &#8220;castile&#8221; refers to any soap that is made from vegetable oil rather than animal fat and synthetic substances. Liquid castile soap is natural, biodegradable, and versatile product with numerous effective applications. I know 12 great uses for castile soap, are there any I missed? I would love to hear your ideas!</p>
<p>1.	<strong>Hand soap and everyday body-washing.</strong> Get wet and pour 2-3 drops of soap onto hands or washcloth. Lather up, scrub down, rinse off, and tingle fresh and clean.</p>
<p>2.	<strong>Shampoo </strong></p>
<p><strong>Castile soap shampoo recipe 1</strong>:</p>
<ul>
<li> 1/4 cup liquid castile soap</li>
<li> 1/4 cup hot water</li>
<li> 1/2 tsp olive, grapeseed or jojoba oil</li>
<li> ~5 drops essential oil of your choice</li>
</ul>
<p>Dissolve the soap in the hot water. Stir in the oils. Enjoy your new natural shampoo.</p>
<p><strong>Castile soap shampoo recipe 2</strong>:</p>
<ul>
<li>1/4 cup liquid castile soap</li>
<li> 1 beaten egg</li>
<li> 1 tsp olive, grapeseed or jojoba oil</li>

<p>Whip until smooth. Use immediately and put any leftovers into the refrigerator and use the next day or two.</p>
<p>3. <strong>Baby bath</strong><br />
Pour 1/4 cup of liquid castile soap in running water for a natural, gentle, and safe baby bath. As with any baby wash, be sure to keep it out of baby eyes.</p>
<p>4.	<strong>Bubble bath</strong><br />
<strong>Luxurious castile soap bubble bath recipe</strong>:</p>
<ul>
<li> 1/2  &#8211; 1 cup liquid castile soap</li>
<li> 5-8 drops essential oil of your choice</li>
<li> 2 ounces of coconut oil</li>
</ul>
<p>Pour the bubble bath mix into the running bath water. Relax!</p>
<p>5. <strong>Shaving</strong></p>
<p>6. <strong>Pet shampoo</strong></p>
<p>7. <strong>Laundry</strong><br />
Use 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup for one regular load. Adding a dash of baking soda makes it even better.</p>
<p>8. <strong>Household cleaner</strong></p>
<p>1 part castille soap to 40 parts water for light cleaning, 1 part castille soap to 10 parts water for heavy duty cleaning.</p>

<li> 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice</li>
<li> 1/2 cup white vinegar</li>
</ul>
<p>Blend all ingredients together. Store in a squirt top bottle. Use 2 tablespoons per load of dishes, shake well before use.</p>
<p>10. <strong>Veggie/fruit wash</strong></p>
<p>11. <strong>Toothpaste.</strong> I&#8217;ve heard that pure liquid castile soap can be used for brushing your teeth! Has anyone tried this?</p>
<p>12. <strong>Backpacking</strong>. Because castile soap is so versatile and biodegradable you can take one small bottle with you and use it for everything without fouling up the environment.</p>

<p><strong>Sea salt soak for brittle nails</strong></p>

<li> 2 drops &#8211; lemon essential oil or some lemon juice</li>
<li> 2 drops &#8211; frankincense essential oil (optional)</li>
<li> 2 drops &#8211; myrrh essential oil (optional)</li>
<li> 2 drops &#8211; wheat germ oil (optional)</li>

<p>Add the ingredients to a small bowl of warm water. Soak your nails for 10 to 15 minutes, two times a week and then apply hand cream. You will notice the result very soon.</p>

<p>Mash black currant with back of spoon until pulpy. Mix well with cream and flour. Apply the mixture on your nails, put on cotton gloves, leave it for 2 hours, then rinse.</p>
<p><strong>Herbal nail treatment recipe</strong></p>

<li> 1 tbsp – dry chamomile flowers</li>
<li> 1 tbsp – dry peppermint</li>
<li> 2 tbsp &#8211; wheat flour</li>
<li> 1/2 tsp – olive oil</li>
<li> 1 cup – water</li>
</ul>
<p>Pour boiling water over the mixed herbs. Allow steeping for 1-1 ½ hours, then strain. Blend well with flour and olive oil. Apply the mixture on your nail for 30 minutes, rinse.</p>
<p><strong>Hot oil treatment for dry and splitting nails</strong><br />
Heat olive oil (warm to touch). Add some drops of lemon juice. Soak hands and nails for ten minutes. Put on gloves after the hot oil treatment and leave them for 20 minutes or overnight for best results.</p>
<p><strong>Vitamin E oil</strong> helps strengthen and nourish nails and cuticles. Squeeze the capsule of Vitamin E oil and apply to your nails nightly. Massage in to help increase circulation to the nail bed.</p>
<p><strong>To whiten your nails</strong>, soak your nails in water with lemon juice or lemon slices for about 10 minutes. It works!</p>

<li> In case you wear nail polish, avoid products with toluene, sulfonamide, or formaldehyde. Make sure to give your nails a break from time to time and leave them without polish for a few days.</li>
<li> Avoid abusing your nails. Don&#8217;t use your fingernails as tools to pick or scratch things.</li>
<li> Don&#8217;t bite! It is extremely destructive for nails and cuticles.</li>

The best way to have natural control over your hair care is by making your own shampoos (moreover, it is fun and cheap <img src='http://going-well.com/wp/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> ). Experiment with different ingredients, create your own  recipes – and you will always have healthy and beautiful hair! Here are my favorite all-natural homemade shampoo recipes:</p>
<p><strong>Egg shampoo recipe</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>1 egg</li>
<li>1 tsp &#8211; olive oil, wheat germ oil or almond oil</li>
<li>1 tsp &#8211; lemon juice</li>
<li>1 tbsp &#8211; castile soap</li>
<li>1/2 cup &#8211; water or herbal tea</li>
</ul>
<p>Blend the ingredients together, wash your hair and rinse well.</p>
<p><strong>Aromatherapy shampoo recipe</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>1 tbsp &#8211; castile soap</li>
<li>1/2 cup &#8211; water</li>
<li>5 drops – essential oil.  Choose essential oils according to your hair type:</li>
</ul>
<p>Dry hair: sandalwood, ylang ylang, lavender essential oils<br />
Normal hair: rosemary, rose, lavender, geranium essential oils<br />
Oily hair: lemon, sage, lemon, tea tree, lavender, geranium essential oils<br />
Dandruff and itchy scalp: rosemary, tea tree, lemon, chamomile, lavender essential oils</p>
<p>Blend the ingredients together, wash your hair and rinse well.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Herbal shampoo recipe</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>1/2 cup &#8211; castile soap</li>
<li>1 tsp &#8211; olive oil</li>
<li>1 tbsp &#8211; aloe vera juice</li>
<li> 1/3 cup &#8211; herbal infusion</li>
</ul>
<p>To make an herbal infusion, pour one cup boiling water over a handful of dried flowers (chamomile for blondes, rosemary for brunettes, hibiscus for redheads). Cover, cool and filter. Blend the ingredients, wash your hair and rinse well.</p>
<p><strong>Honey shampoo for dry or damaged hair</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>2 cups liquid castile soap</li>
<li>1/2 half cup of honey</li>
<li>1/4 cup olive oil</li>
<li>1 teaspoon vitamin E liquid.</li>
</ul>
<p>Blend well. Wash massaging into the scalp.</p>

<p>Mix the ingredients very well. Add to tub of running water.</p>
<p><strong>Energizing salt bath recipe</strong></p>
<ul>
<li> 1 cup &#8211; Epsom salts</li>
<li> 1 cup &#8211; sea salt</li>
<li> 3 drops &#8211; eucalyptus essential oils</li>

<p style="text-align: left;">Candida is a type of fungus (also called yeast), and is only one of a huge number of micro-organisms that exist in a human body. Normally, in a healthy body, Candida does not cause any problem. However, when the bio-balance is upset by factors such as unhealthy lifestyle, stress, excessive consumption of sugar and refined carbohydrate, chronic use of medications such as anti-biotics, cortisone, the pill, etc, then one finds an overgrowth of Candida in the body.</p>
<p>This can result in toxins being released into the bloodstream and can have many adverse effects on the functioning of the body. The immune system is unable to cope with the continuous release of toxins into the body, leading to dis-ease. Symptoms can include depression, mood swings, sinusitis, headaches, chronic fatigue, joint pain, stomach pain, indigestion, vaginal thrush and other fungal infections, skin rashes and eczema, etc.</p>
<p>Fortunately, Candida can be controlled by means of a balanced diet and by the elimination of certain foods in order to create an internal environment in which the yeast cannot survive. An initial detox diet will ensure, along with our Candidate formula will ensure that the levels of systemic Candida are significantly reduced. Thereafter, a maintenance program should be followed to keep Candida permanently at bay. Remember that Candida thrives on all sugars and refined carbohydrates and it is only by controlling your intake of these foods that you will beat systemic Candida. <p><strong>Some Important Points</strong></p>
<p>When following the Candida diet, you must make sure that your blood sugar levels are kept at an acceptable level by eating a substantial breakfast, lunch and supper. If you find that your energy level is low or you are experiencing dizziness while on the diet, it is probably due to low blood sugar. If this happens, simply add a mid-morning and mid afternoon snack. Please remember to drink lots of water in order to assist the elimination of toxins from your body. After a few days of detoxing, some of your symptoms may become worse and you could also experience headaches. This is quite normal and part of the detoxification process. It will improve after a few days and you will begin to feel healthier than you have felt for years! The Candida diet should be followed for 4 weeks, followed by a maintenance program as outlined.</p>
<p>You may not use sugar in any form – this includes sucrose (cane sugar), gluscose and fructose (fruit sugar). Lactose (milk sugar) to be kept to a minimum.</p>

<p>After the initial four weeks detox, you can slowly re-introduce foods from the ”Foods to avoid list”, but, please remember to use them in moderation. The foods to continue avoiding, or using with caution are: sugars, white flour, fruit juices, dried fruits, prepared breakfast flakes including muesli, alcohol, vinegar and foods containing yeast.</p>
